Numbering Assistant (Enterprise) FAQ's

My assistant created a numbering scheme that I want our department to use. What is the best way to make it available to everyone?

Make the document containing the scheme that you wish to distribute available to each person in the department. Have each person open the document and use the Numbering Assistant’s capture feature to ‘import’ the scheme as part of their user-defined schemes.

Is it possible to add custom firm-standard schemes to our Numbering Assistant build (in addition to the ones that are already included)?

Yes. The annual maintenance agreement provides up to five hours worth of development time for additional customized schemes. The development time usually covers anywhere from 5-10 schemes depending on the complexity and amount of time required to create them.

How many schemes can I include in a single document?

You can include up to four schemes in a document by default. If you need additional schemes, they are available upon request.

When a user creates a numbering scheme where is it saved?

User-defined numbering schemes are stored in a database called NmbrUser.mdb, which is normally located in C:\Documents and Settings\[USER]\Application Data\Payne Consulting Group. It is a good idea to back this file up in the event a user’s PC ever needs to be re-imaged.

If I install an updated version of the Numbering Assistant, will my personal schemes be overwritten or deleted?

No. Each user's schemes are stored in a personal database that is not overwritten or replaced during installation of an updated version of the software.

Can I create sequentially numbered labels with the Numbering Assistant?

No. You can use Payne’s Bates Label Assistant to create sequentially numbered file folder labels. Click here for more information about the Bates Label Assistant.
